Who this card is for
A good fit if you…
- Households that already collect PC Optimum at Loblaws-family banners, PC Express, Esso, or other partners, and want the richest PC Financial Mastercard rate on that spend.
- People who meet World Elite-style income figures (personal or household amounts are in eligibility) and still want a $0 annual fee.
- Shoppers who would rather see Optimum points knock dollars off a Superstore bill than learn Aeroplan or Avion.
- Anyone who pays in full. Optimum is not compensation for carrying 20%+ interest.
Skip it if you…
- Shoppers whose grocer is Sobeys, Metro, Costco, or Amazon Fresh. PC Optimum does not print at those tills the way it does in the Loblaws family.
- Applicants who cannot meet the World Elite income test. PC World Mastercard currently lists a lower income bar and still earns Optimum; the entry PC Mastercard sits below that.
- People who want statement-credit cash back they can send to any bank. Optimum is a grocery currency.
- Anyone applying only for a signup bonus. None is currently listed.
Pros and cons
Pros
- No annual fee on a World Elite Mastercard is the same rare trick Rogers Red uses — you are not financing a $150 grocery club.
- The issuer calls this the highest PC Financial partner earn rate in the family, which is the only reason to stretch for World Elite over PC World.
- PC Optimum is already how a lot of Canadian households discount the weekly shop. The card feeds a program you might use even without it.
- Mastercard World Elite acceptance includes Costco Canada, even if Optimum is not the Costco currency.
- The ladder is clear: entry PC Mastercard, PC World, then this card. You can step down if income or spend does not justify World Elite.
Cons
- World Elite income on a $0 card still locks out a lot of Optimum collectors. The fee is not the hurdle; the income test is.
- The feature list is a summary (“highest PC Financial partner earn rates”), not a full points table. Confirm live partner multipliers on PC Financial’s page.
- This card currently lists no welcome bonus, detailed offer, or dollar value. Year-one value is the earn rate.
- Additional-card fees and insurance coverage are not currently listed. Confirm authorized users and travel coverage with PC Financial rather than assuming World Elite extras.
- Optimum you never redeem is just a slower 1% card. If you do not shop the partner list, this product has no personality.
Fees and value: is the annual fee worth it?
First-year snapshot (estimate)
- Annual fee
- $0
- Estimated welcome bonus value
- 50,000 PC Optimum points ($50)
- Bonus minus fee (estimate)
- $50
This is a simple comparison of the estimated welcome-bonus value against the annual fee. It ignores rewards on spending, credits you have to remember to use, and interest if you carry a balance. Offers change — verify with the issuer.
The annual fee in our table is $0, so “is the fee worth it?” is the wrong first question. Ask whether you qualify on income, whether Loblaws-family and partner spend is large, and whether the World Elite earn step versus PC World is worth a harder application.
If you fail the income bar, PC World is the honest product in the same Optimum wallet. If you pass and barely shop those banners, a $0 cash-back card such as Tangerine will annoy you less.
The first-year snapshot on this page will show no welcome-bonus value because no welcome bonus is listed. Offers change.

Rewards and earn rates explained
Rewards program: PC Optimum
You earn PC Optimum points, not cash back and not transferable airline miles. The current partner versus everywhere-else multipliers are not listed; the listing only says this World Elite product has the highest PC Financial partner earn rates.
In practice that means the card is built for spend at PC Optimum partners — Loblaws, Superstore, No Frills, PC Express, and other banners in that program — with a weaker rate on general Mastercard purchases. Confirm the live rate card before you assume a number you saw on a blog in 2023.
Points redeem as Optimum dollars off eligible grocery and partner purchases. If you want 5% cash back at “grocery” as a merchant category, compare BMO CashBack World Elite, which pays cash, charges a fee, and does not care which banner you use as long as it codes as grocery.
Welcome bonus: how to unlock it
50,000 bonus PC Optimum points
This card currently lists no welcome bonus, detailed offer, dollar value, or eligibility text. Treat that as “none on file.” If PC Financial is running Optimum points on the application page, use that page. Judge World Elite on $0 fee, income qualification, and partner earn versus the two cheaper PC Mastercard rungs.

FAQ
Is the PC World Elite Mastercard worth it in 2026?
It is worth it when you already shop PC Optimum partners, you meet the World Elite income bar, and you want the top no-fee earn rate in that family. It is not worth it if your grocer is outside the Loblaws ecosystem or you cannot qualify on income.
PC World Elite vs PC World vs the PC Mastercard?
All three currently list no annual fee and earn PC Optimum. The entry PC Mastercard is the accessible rung. PC World currently lists a mid income bar and higher earn than the base card. World Elite is the top partner earn with World Elite income. Pick the lowest rung that still matches how you shop and what you can pass.
PC World Elite vs BMO CashBack World Elite?
BMO charges an annual fee and advertises a high grocery cash-back percentage at any supermarket that codes as grocery. PC World Elite is $0 and pays Optimum at PC partners. Choose BMO for banner-agnostic cash; choose PC if the Superstore run is the whole grocery story and you will use the points.
Does this card work at Costco?
Costco Canada takes Mastercard, so the plastic can go through. It will not earn PC Optimum the way a Loblaws trip does. For Costco-centred cash back, compare the CIBC Costco Mastercard if you hold a membership.
Does this card charge foreign-exchange fees?
Most Canadian World Elite Mastercards add a foreign-conversion fee on foreign-currency purchases. This is a grocery Optimum card, not a no-FX travel card. For overseas spend, compare Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite, and confirm PC Financial’s current FX rate in the agreement.
